Ligamentoplasty

Description

NOTE

Knee instability with Anterior CruciusLigament (ACL) injury. These injuries are usually associated with meniscal tears that are repaired in the same surgery, examining the condition of other knee structures (synovial, articular cartilage, intra-articular loose bodies, ...).

PURPOSE

ACL repair by using an autologous graft which is made with two tendons from the back of the thigh of the patient, typically the semitendinosus tendon and gracilis, creating a structure that restores the function of the ACL by fixing it with specific material. To perform this technique we use two types of surgery: arthroscopic (a technique by which we introduce a small camera and miniature surgical instruments through two incisions of about 0.5 cm) and the minimally invasive open approach, approx. 4 cm in length, at the level of the pes anserine, performing in the same procedure, a complete review of the inside of the joint and a meniscal repair if necessary, either by remodeling the fragments or by meniscal suture, allowing loading (walking) on the operated limb within 12 hours after surgery, avoiding maximum flexion of the limb with an articulated orthosis that limits it.
